St Lucia Map

St Lucia Map & Info Web site

Map compliments of SeaSands Lodge, St Lucia is surrounded by a green belt and is some times referred to as an island. With only one way in and out. Hippo’s do still roam the streets at night so please do take care while walking down the streets at night. Other interesting wildlife that one may encounter include the elusive Leopard.

Kite Surf
Kite Boarding and Surfing

Plenty action for surfers and Kiteboarders but not in St Lucia itself as it is too dangerous with the Estuary open allowing crocodiles to head out to sea. Head to Cape Vidal Beach where you find others to join you.

This region has some of the best fishing in the Southern Hemisphere with bill fish a plenty, catch and release of course! Join some of the operators in the region or launch your own boat with required permits launching either from beach or Cape Vidal.

Dolphin Swims
Whale watching

At certain times of the year you will also encounter Whales heading North and South in huge groups from August to December.

Beach cycling

There are various businesses that rent out fat bikes for riding on the beach and in the deep sands in the region or bring your own to cycle at low tide. There are MTB cycle races in some of the reserves as well to keep your eye open for.

Here is some local advice on the region

Whether you are into Scuba Diving, Fishing, Surfing, Kiting, Snorkelling.. you name it you can find it within a few kilometers - select HERE for all your options.

4x4 Vehicles

Many regions need a 4x4 so check with your hosts. Ponta do Ouro has a Tar road to it but many of the facilities in the region require a 4x4 or 2x4 with diff lock. Ponta Malongane/Mamoli can be tricky in Season especially in December & January.

Internet/Cell phone reception

Internet is available in all the regions. There are many regions where there might be no reception at all especially in some of the remote reserves like uMkhuze and Ndumo.

Best draw some cash if you are heading out to remote sites as there are not many ATM's in the region and often they have no cash. Your fuel stations are probably the best option.
